Meeting an inspiration

Artists are a rare and inspiring breed. They create magnificent sculptures from blocks of clay, broad landscapes from blank canvases and portraits that capture the moments that makes us gasp. Their creations evoke emotion, challenge our values and pierce our heart. Creating something from nothing, they are society's great magicians. Senior art education major Tyler Kirkholm took a journey to New York City that brought him face-to-face with one of today's premier magicians, artist Karen Gunderson.

We know that going to college is more than just what happens in the classroom.  It's a 24/7 experience.  BVU is a place where you can relish that experience, both inside class and out.  Our modern facilities and residence halls are filled with all sorts of great places to get together with friends or tuck yourself away to study or think.  And, on our many sun-kissed days, the lake and our green lawns will call you outdoors . . .even our professors are enticed and may take their classes outside.  The great thing is that with a wireless campus you can surf the Net, get email, IM friends, download homework instructions off of our Blackboard system, or sign up for courses through Campus Connect from practically anywhere on campus.

So, we've established that Buena Vista (which literally means "Beautiful View") is an inspiring setting to learn in, but there's also lots to do.  19 intercollegiate athletic teams.  Over 80 student organizations.  Just about everyone you run into is going to be involved, making a difference, or simply enjoying themselves.  This is life at BVU.
